Over the last few weeks I have been taking out a few riders as part of the schools sports program. We try to get a mix of road riding, cross country and also (if we have time!) some downhill/free ride.
This Tuesday we decided to concentrate on technical downhill riding, so we visited the trails at Ashprington woods.
After a shaky start to the days riding (a bolt on my disc brake caliper sheered off) we made our way to Totnes. We made a quick stop at the local bike shop (Hot Pursuits) where they repaired my brakes and we continued to the woods and an afternoon of freeriding.
The incident with the brakes put a big dent in my confidence (that's my excuse!) and on watching video footage of the downhill section I realised that I was riding like an old man.
Hopefully by the weekend when Jenny and I visit the woods I should be back on form. In the mean time, feel free to watch this short video of Johannes taking on one of the many flowing sections of singletrack that we encountered during the afternoon.

Jenny and I spent a glorious Sunday afternoon spectating at the third and final round of the Cloud Cover Downhill Series at Newnham Park.
It was a great way to spend a sunny (if a little windy) afternoon, with a friendly atmosphere and great competative action. Jenny and I were both impressed by the technical nature of the course and the final decent was awsome!
Ashley Mullane produced the fastest two times with a clear two seconds victory over Maxime Darcel.
Carl Bartleman was the Junior winner just ahead of Youth winner Ashley Maller, Luke Thomas put in a good showing to take Juvenile win.

Even though its winter we have managed to get a few good cross country and downhill rides in, and on the odd occasion a little bit of freeride.
Here are a few photos of Jenny making the most of her new Gary Fisher Mullet (and ocasionally my Cannodale Chase!)
And if thats not enough mountain biking, here is a short
video!
