No we aren't talking about uncomfortable saddles, we just thought it would be good to take a leaf out of the queens book and review our year (so far). To be honest its been a bit of a rough ride!
As you are aware I started the Gravity Downhill mountain bike club in January 2006 and after a great response from media and manufacturers things were really looking up. Then I ended up in hospital.
On a gentle cycle ride (to visit my grandmother on her 83rd birthday!) I passed out and was found lying in the road by a good Samaritan.
After being admitted to hospital and after hours of stress and worry for my family I was diagnosed with viral Encephalitis, inflammation of the brain caused by a viral attack. Nasty. Luckily the doctors caught it quick else I would have probably croaked it!
Towards the end of April I started to feel a lot better and spent his time planning the trip to Fort Bill and the world cup and building a new bike for my wife's birthday.
As the world cup rolled round the gravity downhill crew set off to Fort Bill and a weekend we will never forget.
- The weather was terrible.
- Our bikes got stolen from the truck.
- The racing was fantastic!
Now that I am almost fully recovered Gravity Downhill hopes to shift into high gear with a number of events and trips planned over the summer and a race début for Jenny our resident DH demon in September.
To finish, I would just like to thank everyone for their support over the last four months. It has helped tremendously. Hopefully the next half of the year will be just as dramatic, but this time in a positive way and I can't wait to get back in the saddle. (Just as soon as I find a suitable replacement for my beloved cannondale!)
